Organizing my crafting dreams

One of my goals for this year is to figure out a way to organize all of my creative ideas so that I can just jump right in whenever I have time to craft. I feel like there are times when I could do something wonderful... but I am not sure what to make, or I just don't have all of the supplies.

I have books. I have magazines.I have pages torn out of magazines. And then, of course, is this beast:

The projects I have bookmarked online are ridiculous. Sure, some are really in-depth projects that you'd have to actually buy supplies for (quilts). But others are just quick things that need a few supplies I already have and 45 minutes.

So the big question is.... how do you organize all of this stuff? A binder? A spreadsheet? A list?

A quick Google search brings up information on how to organize your craft room and supplies - but nothing about organizing your brilliance.

If you're a crafter, how do you organize all of these things? As I begin my quest for the perfect system, any advice on how to do so? I promise to share what I come up with!

  1. would you please come organize my favorites menu! yikes. it's a mess.

    but... what i do...

i have like 30 binders... i print stuff from the net... tear pages out of magazines... and file them in my binders (in those plastics sheets).

works for me! and i know just where to go when i'm looking for inspiration.

  3. Have you tried pinterest for online? I'm obsessed with it. I also have a binder for clippings, etc., but I use pinterest on a daily basis. It's a bookmarking site that allows you to "pin" from anywhere on the web and it saves the original source.

  4. Tara, it may be a surprise to you, but I love your blog! It's been forever I know, but looks like you're doing so much and I'm so happy for you! I have similar woes about crafting, but why don't you try re-organizing your projects by how long they'll take and/or ease? Then when you have a spare 45 minutes, look at your "hour or so" list and see what inspires you! For your bigger projects, pick one per month and break it down week by week. Just a thought!

  5. Lindsey - that's a GREAT idea!! I hadn't thought to organize it by time or difficulty... I'm definitely going to incorporate that. It's so great to hear from you!
