Hoping Kate's Wedding is Great

Is anyone else starting to get excited for the Royal Wedding on Friday?? I don't think I'm going to get up at 4:00 AM to watch it, but I'll probably DVR it and watch it later.

Maybe it's because I recently got married, but I keep thinking about the future Princess Kate as she gets ready for her wedding. William has known for his whole life that this is how his wedding would be. He always knew that it would involve this publicity and ridiculous guest list and crazy royal formalities.

Kate, on the other hand, most likely didn't dream of a wedding publicized on television to millions of people when she was a little girl. Her visions of the first day of her marriage probably didn't include more dignitaries and royals than friends and family members.

One of Princes Diana's bridesmaids was quoted saying, "It's an incredibly difficult role that she is going to be taking on. What will be particularly difficult is finding the balance. The world will be sharing that day with her, yet she must bear in mind that it is her wedding day. Kate must enjoy it intimately with her family and with the man she loves and will spend the rest of her life with."

Here's hoping that Kate and William are  able to feel the love of their close family and friends that day, and that they both feel they've gotten a wedding ceremony they'll always cherish, and not just a royal event.

Will you be watching the biggest wedding of the year??

Our favorite easter treats

My mom sent me this picture today of my favorite Easter treat so I could start getting excited for Easter at her house tomorrow:

Yum!! They are made from rice crispie treats - and she has a pan that's shaped like those little bunnies.  A few dabs of frosting and some eyes, and you're ready to go!

They are delicious and cute and fun! Thanks Mom.... can't wait to eat one tomorrow!!

So much happy!!

I'm interrupting the wedding recaps because I really really want to wait until we get our wedding pictures back from the photographer so you can see the best ones!

I am feeling overwhelmed this week by how amazing our lives are right now. Every once in a while I catch a glimpse of my hand with that extra ring on it and can't believe we're really married! It's so weirdly awesome to have a husband!

Our absolute best wedding present was Zac being offered a new job the day before the wedding! He started there on Monday, and so far, it's been great. He's much happier in his new role, and, for the first time in our entire relationship, he isn't working any evenings or weekends. IN-CRED-I-BLE!!! It is so wonderful to have him home every night and to eat dinner together before 9:30 PM. Once we figure out what the heck we should do on the first Saturday we'll ever together where no one works and we have nothing planned, I think that will probably be awesome, too!

AND... all over the place, there are babies! Not at my house (seriously guys - way too soon!) but one of my best real life friends is pregnant! She's my first so-close-that-you-get-to-see-the-baby-at-the-hospital kind of friend, and I'm so excited for her. One of my favorite blog friends, Biz, just announced that she's having a baby. Zac's cousin is having the first girl their family has seen in 57 years, and my cousins (who are sisters), are both pregnant - one with twins!

You know what that means, right? This girl gets to spend more time with her super cute husband, dreaming up sewing projects for all of these wonderful new babies. I can't wait to get started.

You know what feeling where you're just so happy, you can't stop smiling? And you wish you could bottle it up and feel that way forever? Yeah - I'm there!

FYI - it looks like this:

Side note: sorry that pretty much every sentence in this post ends in an explanation point. I can't help it!! =)

The best part of rehearsing - dinner!!

You might remember the slight drama we had with our rehearsal dinner a few weeks before the wedding. Thankfully, everything worked out perfectly and we ended up with an event that I think was even better than the original would have been.

We went downtown to a restaurant in Fountain Square called Via Vite. It's one of our favorites - swanky, modern, Italian. I love all of those adjectives!

Zac's mom put on a killer party. The food was delicious, the decorations were beautiful, and everyone had a blast!

Loved the table decorations!

Another shot - by candlelight!

Centerpieces - what a cool way to integrate tulips.

Monogram cookies!!

The happy almost-married couple

My grade school friend Ali.

Some of our very best guys!

We had SO much fun at the dinner. We ate and drank, ate and drank some more, and enjoyed the opportunity to spend a quiet(er) dinner with some of our closest family and friends. We headed back to the hotel, where we got to hug all of our out of town family who had arrived in the meantime.

I turned in pretty early for some beauty sleep, though I'm pretty sure I only slept for about 5 minutes all night! Too excited for what comes next.........

Rehearsing

Our wedding weekend officially kicked off with our rehearsal, followed by a great dinner. Traffic was terrible for some reason, and almost everyone (including me) was about 45 minutes late to the church. Oops!

First, we went through the ceremony nice and slow. Nancy, our pastor, was absolutely amazing. Her calming energy was contagious. We also had some lovely ladies from the church who helped make sure that everything went smoothly. They were a little old-fashioned, but I'm not sure what we would have done without them!

And a fun close-up of my shoes:

We ran through the ceremony a second time, but this time, on fast forward. I, at least, felt way more comfortable knowing exactly how things would go the next day.

Next stop... dinner!!

I'm BACK!!!!

Hi everyone! We're home from the most amazing wedding and fantastic honeymoon!!! Slowly adjusting into our new real life - but so far, so good!

The wedding was absolutely wonderful. I never imagined that it could be so much fun, hold so much meaning and leave us with so many memories.

I'm planning a lot of wedding recaps for you, but here's one picture to hold you over in the meantime, while I pick up our lost luggage at the airport, do hundreds of loads of laundry and try to hit the grocery store so our first married meal at home isn't spaghetti noodles with butter!

Hope you like it...

We're getting married this weekend!!!!

I don't know what happened, but it feels like we turned a corner and it's a week full of Christmas Eve!! I woke up this morning feeling SO excited for the wedding this weekend!!

We have almost everything finished (those stinking vows are way harder to write then I thought they would be!) and are getting excited for family to start arriving on Wednesday. I have a few loose ends to tie up at work and then I'm out the door!

Thank you for all of your love and support during this process. Thank you for all of your well wishes, and your patience with me as I blog only about wedding stuff and not about sewing or crafting or house projects!

Next time you hear from me, I'll be married!!! Here's hoping married life brings more time for hobbies than being engaged did - see you in a few weeks!

We're trashing the dress!

Have you ever heard of a Trash the Dress photo session? Basically, you put your wedding dress back on the day after your wedding (yay for wearing it twice!!) and head out with a photographer to take pictures you could never take the day of your wedding.  Like this:

So far we're thinking about eating ice cream cones, shopping at the farmer's market and end up playing in a fountain.

Have you ever done a trash the dress session? Any suggestions for things we could do??
